Is this a screen recorder?+
It periodically captures text from your foreground app using Accessibility and OCR. It doesn’t save screenshots or video. The default interval is 10 seconds, so brief changes between samples can be missed.
How do meeting recordings work?+
Recording starts only when you choose. Computer audio includes all system sound, not just a meeting app. Transcription runs after you stop, using a separate Whisper base download of about 150 MB. Timestamps identify audio sources, not individual speakers. Detection relies on visible call controls and may miss background calls. This preview still needs live-call hardware validation.
Do I need an account or subscription?+
No. This version has no authentication, sign-up, or subscription flow. It runs on your computer with Ollama and the local model. The desktop app stores your journal locally.
What about passwords and private information?+
Password managers are excluded by default, detected secure fields are skipped, and common secret patterns are redacted. Those protections are best-effort. Exclude sensitive apps or pause capture for anything you don’t want stored.
Can I trust every summary?+
Small models can make mistakes. Every journal entry retains its original Accessibility and OCR text, so you can check what was actually visible. Screen text is reference material, never instructions for your assistant.
What can an assistant access through MCP?+
Once you connect it, an assistant can search and read the captured journal, including source text. Meeting transcripts and their linked screen context are also available. The MCP server is read-only. The assistant’s own handling of that context depends on the service you use.

On Mac, in Application Support under Constant Watch. On Windows, in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Constant Watch. Capture settings shows the folder; you can also download a day as Markdown.
